State funding (Land NRW)

The Ministry of Culture and Science (MKW) of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia has realigned its research funding. With three thematically open funding lines, universities are supported in developing new research priorities as well as establishing and expanding strong research networks.

At HHU, there is an internal selection procedure in case of need. Therefore, be sure to inform us early on if you are considering applying.

Two-stage procedure with calls every two years. Applications are submitted in the name of the higher education institution. Only a limited number of applications can be submitted per lead HEI. There is no limit for applications in which HEIs are not the lead institution.

Information for applicants

The application for state funding is linked to internal university coordination processes, e.g. for the provision of own contributions (usually 10% of the project costs) or the obtaining of signatures from the university management. Please also refer to the relevant documents in the download area.

Therefore, please contact us at an early stage so that we can accompany the application process.
